Learn the basic skills of calligraphy. Using a step-by-step approach, students will be introduced to the versatile and elegant letterforms from the Italian Renaissance. Beginning with the proper holding of the pen and understanding how it works, we will study the individual shapes and spacing needed to make beautiful letters. Using copious handouts and a workbook approach, students will leave this class with a good foundation of calligraphy and create a finished piece on quality paper.
